TO JULIA.

Oh! Julia, how sweet were those bliss-woven hours,
Ever dear to this bosom they'll be;
The pathway of life seem'd to wind among flowers,
When that pathway was measured with thee.

And tho' thou art gone, yet I ne'er can forget
The hours of brightness we wove,
They shall twine round my heart, and memory yet
Shall recall the dear form that I love.

Believe me, where'er thy loved footsteps have strayed,
The rich rose of enjoyment was there,
And the smile on thy features, so sweetly that played,
May it never be banished by care.

And amidst all the sorrow, the grief and the pain
That crowd round this heart, may it yet
Encircles the cup of enjoyment again
And bless the dear moment we met.
