Full Text

The National Repeal Convention held its session in New York three days. The last day was characterized by warm, even heated discussion. Mr. Walsh of Boston proposed that a committee should be appointed, if necessary, to contract for 10,000 muskets, to be placed on board of a Baltimore clipper, and sent into the River Shannon, Ireland. Such an act would be an open violation of the laws of the country as well as the treaty which exists between us and Great Britain. Should such a craft succeed, however, in eluding the vigilance of the Revenue Cutters she would stand a chance of getting overhauled by some British man of war, and if caught, blown out of the water.
