HAS BEEN
ELECTED
GENERAL
MANAGER OF DAVIS COAL
AND COKE COMPANY.

Frostburg, Md., Mar. 1.--John C. Brydon is elected general manager of Davis Coal and Coke Co. He will begin his new duties July 1st, and will have his headquarters at Cumberland.

Mr. Brydon's rise in the coal business has been rapid. In 1891 he started as a clerk and last year was elected general superintendent of Consolidated Coal Company, with his quarters in this city. He has shown ability for better things in all positions and it is thought that quite as that he has attained the position of general manager.

He will be in a position that will have charge of the development of 25,000 acres of coal land. The tract now has very poor railroad connections but it is the plan of the company to be on the line of the new extension of the Western Maryland railroad which is called the proposed Wheeling-Pittsburg extension.
