UNITED STATES SENATE.
The next session of the Senate will, in all probability, be equally divided by the administration and opposition parties, which will give the vantage ground to the former, inasmuch as they can depend upon the casting vote of the Vice President. We copy the following table from Saturday's Phænix:

It will be perceived that there is one vacancy in the Rhode Island, and one in the Mississippi delegation.— It is, we think, beyond a doubt that the Legislature of Mississippi will, at its next session, which is in January '36, return R. J. Walker, a staunch supporter of democratic principles, which added to our strength already existing in the Senate, will give us 24 of the 48 votes of that body. In Rhode Island we have some chance of procuring the appointment of another, in which event the vote will be 25 administration to 23 opposition.
