Full Text

The trials of persons in New-York, charged with conspiracies to defraud in Bank and Insurance stocks, make but slow progress. It is near two weeks since they commenced, and, by the last accounts, it appeared that, but a small portion of the witnesses, on the part of the prosecution, had yet been examined. The Jury complained severely of the restraint under which they were put, not having been permitted, for the first week, to separate. The Judge has since consented to let them visit their families, an hour or two in the morning, each one in the custody of an officer. The Court has prohibited the publication of the testimony, or any comments on it, till the trials shall have been completed.
