El Centrans Injured When Truck Overturns En Route to San Diego

Dale Aynes, former athlete at Central Union High school, and W. J. Valverde. also of El Centro, suffered severe injuries in a traffic accident near Pine Valley late last week.

The men left El Centro for San Diego Saturday night aboard a pastry truck. Near Pine Valley the truck went out of control, turned over several times, plunged down a 100 foot embankment, and burst into flames. Valverde was pinned in the flaming wreckage. Aynes pulled his companion from the machine and carried him up the embankment. The men were unconscious when other motorists reached the scene. Valverde escaped with severe bruises and scratches. Aynes suffered a spine injury, is partly paralyzed, and has a broken ankle, his relatives said.
