City Official Writes The Leader Saying
that a New Order Has
Passed Us.
ASKS THAT LAW BE ENFORCED
A correspondent, who, by the way is a city official, and a personal friend of Mayor Mulberger and Police Commissioner Dent, and who is also well acquainted with Police Chief Block writes THE LEADER regarding the action of those gentlemen in lowering the age limit of boys entering pool halls and bowling alleys, and intimates strongly that these gentlemen are endeavoring to place themselves in the position of being larger than the state of Wisconsin in that they repeal the state laws for Watertown and create an interpretation to suit their own private whims.
The city official's letter follows:
Watertown, Wis., May 11, 1916
To Editor of the Daily Leader.
In your last evening's issue of the Daily Leader I noticed an article that minors may play pool, billiards or bowling in this city, while the statutes of this state say NO.
And in reading the article I wondered if Mayor Mulberger, Chief of Police Block and Police Commissioner Robert Dent were larger than the State of Wisconsin and its statutes, and if so "O Lord, save thy people."
I believe it would be well for the above named officials to keep out side of the statutes and not to get inside for it is very easy to borrow trouble
