WASHINGTON, (P)—The Georgia Pacific-Alaska Co. has until July 1, 1961, to complete planning for a pulp and paper mill near Juneau.

Even so, a memorial has been introduced in the Alaska House opposing any further extension of planning time for the company.

"We are still hopeful that considerably before that time GP will qualify and we won't have to meet another extension issue," said Ira J. Mason, director of the Forest Service Timber Management Division, when told about the memorial.

The company received a preliminary award to 7½ million board feet of timber in the Tongass National Forest in 1955.

Planning for construction and financing was to have been completed by July, 1958, but an extension was granted until June 30, 1961. Mason said.
