PUTNAM LEAVES HERE SATURDAY

COMMISSIONER OF LIGHT HOUSES HAD BEEN HERE ON INSPECTION TRIP

George R. Putnam, commissioner of lighthouses, left over the East Coast Saturday afternoon for Jacksonville where he will change to the Louisville and Nashville R. R. and go to New Orleans.

From the Crescent City he will proceed direct to Washington, D. C., and will have completed his tour of inspection of the districts which were in his itinerary.

Mr. Putnam inspected American Shoals lighthouse and the lighthouse and equipment at Dry Tortugas in company with William W. Demeritt, superintendent of the district, and was gratified at the efficiency evidenced by recent improvements.
