Extract of a letter dated. Hernando. Aug 20th.

Mr. E.P. Howe:-

The democratic party is flourishing in this county. Col. Talbert will certainly be elected by a very decided majority. He is combatting all shinplaster moneyed-lie and stealing establishments. The people seem to be alive to the necessity of supporting only, who stand pledged to retrieve the state from the certain ruin awaiting her. provided the matter is not quickly attended to. The
"Free Press" is still "raring and pitching" as you will perceive. It is a most able auxiliary to the good cause.

P. S. Tunica co. will elect a Democrat-CERTAIN.
