Vicky Geer and Shirley Overturf were winners in the Ohio State Junior Fair activities as announced today by the Ohio State Junior Fair Committee.
Vicky Geer is 14 years old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Geer, 103 N. Main Street, London. She placed first in the activities class Fire Prevention and Safety Demonstration for individuals at the Ohio State Fair. Vicky's demonstration was entitled "Bring Them Back Alive." She will be awarded a trip to the Ohio Club Congress September 11-15 by the Ohio Farmers Insurance Company. The advisor of the Miscellaneous Misses Club Mrs. Chester Geer, is also awarded a trip to the Ohio Club Congress by the Ohio Farmers Insurance Company.
Shirley Overturf, 15 years old is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Overturf, Rt. 1, Irwin, member of Rosedale Cook and Stitch Club. Shirley was the State winner in the individual girls' Nutrition Demonstration. Shirley's award is being determined by the State Fair Committee. One advisor of the Club will be awarded a trip to the Ohio Club Congress by the State Fair. The advisors are: Mrs. C. E. Lippincott and Mrs. Paul Overturf.
Other members who participated in the Ohio State Junior Fair activities were as follows: Style Revue Linda Hood, Miscellaneous Misses, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hood, London; Pat Dials, This Is My Best, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Dials, of Mt. Sterling; Haila Roby, Canaan Premium Strivers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Roby, Rt. 2, Plain City; the girls' team demonstration was given by Grace Baldridge, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Drue Baldridge and Karen Meeker, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Meeker, Plain City. Both girls are members of the Canaan Premium Strivers Club. Nancy Teegardin, Mud Run Rustlers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alvie Teegardin, of Mt. Sterling and Judy Packer, Mud Run Hustlers, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Packer of Mt. Sterling, gave a team demonstration on First Aid.
Agricultural Demonstrations were given by Phyllis Anthony, Green Range, Sr., daughter of Mr. Marvel Anthony of Mt. Sterling; agricultural team demonstrations was given by Arline Geyer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Geyer of West Jefferson and Jo-Ann McDaniels, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Philip McDaniels of West Jefferson. Both girls are members of the Darby Valley Club.
The Madison County Health Contestants at the State Fair were Sondra Anthony of the Green Range, Senior Club, daughter of Mr. Marvel Anthony of Rt 2, Mt. Sterling; and David Ferguson, Union Leaders Club, son of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Ferguson, Rt. 3, London.
Jay Straley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Straley, Rt. 2, Plain City and a member of the Canaan Tractor Club, competed in the Ohio State Junior Fair Tractor Rodeo.
