Two Arrested At
Large Clinton Still

Hinds County officers located
and destroyed a still with a ca-
pacity of 2200 gallons a mile south
of Spring Ridge Road on McRaven
Road near midnight Saturday. Two
arrests were made.

County patrolman Howard Evans
and Sheriff's Deputies Curtis Cox
and Jack Wedgeworth discovered
the large still at 11:30 p.m. Sat-
urday after six months of closing
in on the location by Evans.

Thirty-nine 55 gallon kegs of
mash were at the still ready to
run and 40 gallons of whiskey was
already run and capped up. Deputy
Raymond Bonner and Constable
Fred Thomas assisted the other
officers, and the still and kegs of
mash were destroyed. The whiskey
is being kept, along with parts of
the still, for evidence.

About ten o'clock Sunday morn-
ing Patrolman Evans arrested two
Jackson Negroes, John Rogers, 42,
and Eddie Jackson, 26, in connec-
tion with the moonshining opera-
