DROWNED IN MINE PIT.

While Swimming Fred Bollman, of Negaunee, Loses His Life.

Negaunee, Wis., July 24.—Fred Bollman, while swimming in an old abandoned pit of the Grand Central mine in this city, about noon to-day, was drowned in about 35 feet of water. He was in company with two younger brothers and is supposed to have taken a cramp, owing to the chilly condition of the water. Although diligent search has been made his body has not yet been recovered, and it is expected that water will have to be pumped out, necessitating several days' work.

Deceased was about 26 years of age and a single man.
