Col. Mercer has been a member of Congress during the whole period in which he has presided over the Company. The duties of the offices do not at all conflict with each other, and may be efficiently discharged by the same individual.
As we are "fully authorized" to make the foregoing annunciation, common justice requires that all who have aided in circulating rumors of Major Eaton's intended withdrawal, will now give them a prompt and explicit contradiction.
