Ruth Brown told police last Wednesday that two white youths snatched her purse as she stood at a Peachtree St. bus stop and fled through a church yard.
Sunday, police arrested two boys suspected of taking a total of $2.70 and a pocketbook, but apparently were not influenced by the famous name of the victim.
Miss Brown was not identified as the popular blues singer of national fame, but as resident of 485 Northside Dr. Apt. 485.
Miss Brown was quoted as saying she was waiting at a bus stop on Peachtree St. in front of St. Phillips Cathedral when the two boys walked down the street. She told police they snatched her purse as soon as they came close to her. The boys then reportedly fled across the grounds of the church and escaped. The woman was further quoted as saying she went to the nearby Buckhead Elks Club and reported the incident to the manager, thinking he would notify police.
It was reported last Friday morning to the manager, Elks Club.
