Event Details
A cyclone accompanied by lightning, rain, and hail struck the south side of the city. The wind track was about 120 rods wide. It demolished a three-story wooden building 180 feet long by 40 feet wide belonging to the Coldwater Road Company. A windmill west of the depot was carried over the pump house several feet above some telegraph wires. The tin roof of the wheelbarrow factory was rolled up and landed eight rods away, with almost the entire roof and rafters taken off. Orchards suffered severely.
