WHILE the Joy of the last Week, at the Confirmation of our Liberty, is still recent in our Minds, the Humane, the Benevolent must sigh when they reflect what Numbers of their Fellow Creatures, (which doubtless have as high a Relish for so dear an Enjoyment as themselves) are deprived of it, and confined in a miserable Goal, thereby becoming Incumberances on a Community, which otherwise they might be useful Members of. The Gradation is easy from pitying a distressed Object to relieving them, and I cou'd heartily wish to see a Subscription on Foot for so laudable a Purpose--If it is urged the Sums due from Debtors here, are much larger than those in Boston: and Salem, &c. &c. who have set us so charming an Example; allowing that to be the Case; a small Addition by each of the Subscribers, if that shou'd be general (which I cannot doubt) to what they would otherwise contribute will easily Augment the Sum sufficient for the Occasion: tho' if that shou'd not be the case, I have such a prodigious Partiality, for the Ladies numbers, whose Ability and Inclinations I know conspire in such a Design; and for the rest when they are acquainted with it, I am persuaded they will willingly sacrifice a fine Flower for the Head or Bosom, a Pair of Pendals or Necklace in the run of a Year, which trifling Retrenchment; as it may appear, and really is, would answer the End proposed, if practiced by each in this Town.

Main Argument
the writer urges the establishment of a subscription to pay off debts and free imprisoned debtors, emphasizing compassion and the potential for them to contribute to society, and suggests that even modest contributions from all, particularly ladies forgoing luxuries, would suffice despite larger local debts compared to boston and salem.
