Coast to Coast Super Sabre Flies In 3 Hrs. 38 Mins.

McGUIRE AFB, N.J., (AP)--An F-100F Super Sabre jet Sunday flew from Palmdale, California, to this base in 3 hours 38 minutes to set a new unofficial transcontinental record.

An Air Force spokesman said the plane left California at 9:13 a.m. local time and landed here at 3:51 p.m. local time.

The old unofficial record of 3 hours 44 minutes 53.8 seconds was established March 9, 1955, by an F-84F jet plane flying between International Airport, Los Angeles, and Floyd Bennett Field, Brooklyn, New York.

The F-100F was piloted yesterday by Maj. Robert Risner of the Tactical Air Command, 479th Fighter Day Wing at George Air Force Base.
