Event Details
A Constitution by the Pope is published at Rome, which forbids the associating of the Free Masons, upon Pain of Excommunication. In the mean time, those Societies at Florence and Leghorn, which were suppressed in the Reign of the late Duke, have open'd their Lodges again without fear of the Inquisition, because the present Great Duke is a Brother. Reports from Constantinople, Smyrna, and Aleppo indicate that the Societies there are very much increased and have admitted several Turks of Distinction.
