To the Editor of the Abbeville Press.:

Dear Sir: Will you do me the kindness to give the following contribution for purchasing Bibles for South Carolina soldiers, a place in your paper. Our religious papers in Columbia both the Presbyterian and Baptist, are so much crowded that they inform me they cannot spare the room to make the acknowledgment in their items. I regret the smallness of these papers and the press upon their columns, and trust you will aid so good a work by allowing me to make the acknowledgment in your paper. I desire also to return my grateful thanks to the kind christian friends who show they care for the souls of our brave men.
