A meeting was held in Zanesville, on the 23d ult. for the purpose of taking into consideration a communication received from a committee appointed at Marietta, to correspond with the citizens of the adjoining counties, who may feel interested in the great undertaking of the establishment of "The Baltimore and Ohio Rail Road." Gen. Van Horne having been called to the chair, a preamble and several resolutions were adopted. The purport of the latter were to express concurrence in the policy of cutting a canal from the Ohio to Lake Erie, and of connecting the Ohio with the Rail Road by means of the Muskingum: to appoint a committee of seven persons to correspond with the Board of Directors of the Rail Road Company, and to recommend to the inhabitants interested in the project to hold meetings and co-operate with the committee in advancing the object in view.
