THE PROHIBITION PARTY AND SENSE.

In voting the Prohibition party ticket, the voter is in line with the scriptures. They say. "Go not with the multitude to do evil;" "woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink;" "Be not conformed to this world;" Come out from among them and be ye separate; Who is on the Lord's side?" and scores of others.

When the Prohibition voter casts his vote he is in harmony with them all.

In voting the Prohibition ticket the voter is also voting in harmony with the profession of his church. The churches all testify about as follows:

"We regard the liquor traffic as the overshadowing curse of this nation, an enemy to the peace, purity and prosperity of the home, the church and the state. To license this traffic is a sin against God and a crime against humanity. Being morally wrong no human legislation can ever make it right. Law is for the overthrow of crime, not for its protection."

In voting the Prohibition ticket, the voter always has the approval of his conscience. He never has to repent his deed. We have noticed that to have voted the Prohibition ticket for 40 or 30 or 20 years is much of a satisfaction to old men, that it is spoken of to their credit when they die; and that many who desert the Prohibition party, like Joseph C. Sibley, John G. Woolley and a number of preachers we could name, suffer much in character and credit and comfort.

We have heard many an insipid apology for not voting the Prohibition ticket. We never heard a regret for doing so.

To vote the Prohibition ticket is the quick and sensible and effective and final way of settling the liquor problem, because it is the right way.

Our country is governed by parties. National problems cannot be settled in any other way. The Republican and Democratic and Progressive parties are in favor of perpetuating the liquor traffic. To vote with them is to vote to perpetuate it. To vote with the Prohibition party is the way to get and force what you want. If you want concession like local option or local prohibition, vote the Prohibition ticket and the old parties will fall over each other to grant them to you.

If you want to force consideration on the part of Congress, vote the Prohibition ticket. If you think your old party will yet take up the prohibition issue you will force her hand very quick if you vote the Prohibition ticket. If you think we will have to have a new party and want one, give the Prohibition party an additional hundred thousand votes or so and you will get it quick. To vote the Prohibition ticket is the way of power Had the party polled 30,000 votes last year in the State, the Legislature would have been frantic for local option. Had the 114,000 remonstrants in Allegheny county voted the Prohibition ticket they would have shaken Pittsburg and the state, When the Prohibition party cast a vote of 272,000 the Anti-Saloon League sprang into existence to save the Republican party. Were the Prohibition party to cast 500,000 votes in the next presidential election you will see the biggest excitement since war times.-The Clean Commonwealth.
