Extract of a Letter from Halifax, dated Apr. 17.

'Last Monday his Majesty's Ship Falkland, Capt. S. Francis Drake arrived here from Portsmouth in about six Weeks; by her I have the following extracted from a Letter of a Gentleman of good Credit in England, viz. "That Monf. Thurot had landed at Carrickfergus in Ireland, and after doing Some Damage, he reimbark'd his little Army: and put to Sea: Soon after which he was met with by three of our Frigates, which after an Engagement of a few Hours, took the Three French Frigates, and carried them into Port. Mon. Thurot and 5 or 600 of his Men were kill'd. Lord Colvil commands the Fleet here and at Quebec the ensuing Year; but few Ships of War are coming out this Season."'
