The Washington Skating Park.—During the past few weeks, Mr. Thomas G. Waggaman, one of the directors of the above popular park, has caused many improvements to be made calculated to add to the facilities and comfort of visitors during the approaching skating season. The walks and platform have been thoroughly repaired and enlarged, and the buildings and fences whitewashed, and the ground deepened and leveled in front of the platforms. The main coffer dam has been so altered as to regulate more evenness of water in the pond, and Mr. Waggaman has had constructed another in front of Twentieth street, to prevent the muddy water from the hills adjoining, caused by rains, from flowing into the inclosure. Several additional light-towers have been provided to illuminate the park at night, and improved machinery has been secured to facilitate the removal of snow off the ice. Water is now let in the inclosure, and it only remains for a good freeze to afford the members of the club and the public generally that enjoyment and sport only to be found in skating exercises. In a few days membership tickets will be ready, which can be obtained at the office of the secretary, Mr. H. A. Moore.
