Dear Mr. Bennett:-
In consequence of the cold weather my lips have become very much chapped. I have made several inquiries for remedies to cure them, and have found all to no effect; but there is one remedy yet untried and that is to kiss a person who has never been kissed before. As I am a stranger in these parts, and have but few acquaintances here, it is extremely difficult to find such a character. I have therefore been compelled to resort to this method. Dear sir, for pity sake, do not let this be numbered with those letters that you are compelled to lay aside daily unanswered, as I am a tender plant of the earth and am not at all calculated to withstand the extreme cold of a northern winter. I am, Dear Sir, ever yours,
Respectfully,
MARGARET.
