Note.-The reference to the Witness contained in our "Extra." was not offensive both in form and intent. Mr. Sanderson had no logical right to infer that we designed any wrong upon him. The extract which he copied warranted none of the remarks he made last week. We have no "pump" at Platteville. What we stated of Mr. Sanderson's refusal to print the Professor's personal stuff was told us in the street at Platteville by one of his warmest friends, who said in the presence of several that he had it from Mr. Sanderson's own mouth. Mr. Sanderson might have properly rebuked the Professor for first introducing him into this personal matter.- Our mild reply in the "Extra" was plainly suggested, and the facts were correctly stated, as well known at Platteville. -Touching the merits of matters we have no dispute at present with the Witness, and mean to have none. if it can be avoided. In this we have the approbation of all our mutual and respective friends.
