On Friday, Oct. 23d, the lightning struck the house of Mr. Wm. Dorister, on Mr. R. M. Bugg's place, near Lynnville in this county, and played a dangerous freak upon the person of his little son aged about 5 years. It struck the top of the chimney and split it open from the top to the fire-place in the family room, so that you could lay your hand in the rent, then followed the arch bar to the side of the fire-place and bounded off to the shoulders of his little boy and passed down both of his legs, tearing his boots all to pieces and leaving a black streak down his back. The child is not thought to be dangerously hurt unless his spine is injured. Mrs. Dorister was struck down but not injured, and jumping up she threw a bucket of water on the boy, whose clothes were burning. The soles of the boots were torn off and the legs and uppers literally riddled.
