IMPORTANT MEETING,

A meeting was held at the Worthington Hotel, on Tuesday afternoon, to consider questions, material and otherwise, of importance to the community.

On motion, Philo Hawes, of Lu Verne was called to the Chair, and A. P. Miller was chosen Secretary.

Mr. Ames introduced the subject of asking the Legislature for an appropriation to build roads and bridges westward to the State line.

After some discussion, a committee of five was appointed to consider the matter, and report at an adjourned meeting, as follows: J. Ames, M. B. Soule and I. N. Sater of Worthington, and P. J. Kniss and R. Herron, of LuVerne.

Mr. Soule introduced the subject of again asking for a postponement of the time for paying taxes, which was generally favored

Mr. Sater introduced the subject of asking for the distribution of the 3 per cent, railroad tax so that it should go to the counties in which the lands lie.

Referred to former committee.

Mr. Sater also introduced the subject of the increased valuation of property by the Board of Equalization.

After some consideration, on motion of A. P. Miller, the matter was referred to a committee of seven, to consist of the committee already appointed, with the addition of Auditor Bear and Commissioner Durfee.

A. P. Miller introduced the subject of U. S. Senator. The expression was very generally in favor of the re-election of Senator Ramsey, and, on motion of C. C. Goodnow, the Secretary was instructed to so state to our representatives in the State Legislature.
