Full Text

The Land of Promise.

An exchange says: "Iowa people are going rapidly to the front in Dakota, and some of the liveliest towns in that Territory have been founded by families from this vicinity. There is no prospect that Dakota will be the next State admitted to the Union, and while crops throughout most of the states are less than fair, Dakota has harvested her usual consecutive and reliable yield. Along the line of the Northern Pacific Railway business is booming, and just now people in this part of the country are looking towards Crystal Springs, in Kidder county, sixty three miles east of Bismarck, the new capital. The town site is owned by W. C. Spafford, of Chicago, and G. H. Mason, of Kalamazoo, Mich., who have already built a fine hotel, and are doing every thing to aid settlers in securing land, etc. The railway company has put in side tracks, switches, a good passenger house, freight depot, telegraph office, etc., and Crystal Springs is evidently destined to soon become one of the best towns in that territory."
