The East Hartford Jaycees will honor the outstanding young man of 1960 from the towns of East Hartford, Glastonbury, and South Windsor at the club's Annual Distinguished Service Award Banquet to be held Saturday, March 4, at the Veteran's Memorial Clubhouse, Sunset Ridge.
Maurice A. Belanger named chairman of the affair, explained that nomination forms have been sent to 150 civic, business, government and religious leaders. Entries submitted will be judged by an impartial committee of non-Jaycees.
The annual award will be presented in recognition of outstanding civic service, demonstrated leadership and unselfish contribution of time and talent for the community welfare.
"Because this is our fifth year presenting such an award," Belanger said, "we are inviting wives for the first time, and are combining a reception and dance with the banquet."
Nominations for the award are restricted to men between the ages of 21 and 36. Residents of the three-town area may obtain nomination forms by calling Mr. Belanger at JA 8-2694. Nominations may be submitted for an employee, an acquaintance, a neighbor or for a fellow club member.
Other members of the Jaycee committee are Milan Macko, William Harford, Roy Lange, James Hagerty, Thomas Sklens, James Gif ford, Michael Murray, and Herbert Cruickshanks.
