The Centinel would do well to publish the lengthy report of the Secretary of the Treasury, (if his paper can contain it) on the troubles at Pittsburgh, as from that pompous account it is no doubt the system of a Standing Army was contemplated by those who are desirous to bring forward as early as possible this favorite measure. If they could annihilate Republican Societies and establish a Standing Army, the remaining part of their designs could be easily accomplished.
The prudence and discretion of the President, and the Governor of Pennsylvania, have happily terminated a controversy, which if it had been left to some writers, would by this time have involved his country in a civil war.
