KU KLUX KLAN APPEAR IN BUCKS

We have read so much about the Ku Klux Klan that has made its appearance we never thought of it appearing at our own doors. And strange to say, all that we have read of this organization has always been by its critics. It is said the Klan emblem was discovered don't say something for themselves.

The following item appeared in a recent issue of the Trenton Times which tells of the organization of the Klan in Bucks County.

KUKLUX KLAN FORMED IN BUCKS COUNTY

Newtown Pa., Feb. 15-The Ku Klux Klan has made its appearance in Bucks County, according to a report given to the State Police today by a number of farmers living on the outskirts of Newtown Borough. They claim to have seen the fiery cross. It is said the Klan emblem was discovered on the farm of Robert Kenderdine on the Bucks and Richboro Road a few nights ago when Mrs. Mahlon Fretz, who lives nearby, was attracted by a blaze which proved to be a flaming cross.

The farmers also report that they found a note near the cross which read "Beware of the fiery cross. As ye sow so shall ye reap." The note was signed "K. K. K."

An investigation showed that the cross was covered with excelsior wrapped with burlap and had been soaked in oil.

Mr. Kenderdine today declared that the report of the cross being found on his farm was true. A search for other activities of the Klan have revealed nothing further, he added.

The State Police at Doylestown admitted that they could do nothing about the matter unless the Klan created a disturbance.

"They cannot be prevented from holding meetings and organizing if they see fit. So long as they remain orderly we are powerless to interfere," the sergeant of the troopers said.
