To the Printer.

Be pleased to insert this in one of your Papers.
It is well known, that some Gentlemen Divines of great
Judgment and Learning, have asserted. That our First
Parents Transgression in Eden is by no Means imputed to
Mankind: Upon which supposition, I. beg Leave to
query, Whether Idiots or Infants, who die before they
are guilty of actual Impiety, have any Need of Christ's
Merits; or if they have, wherein this Necessity consists?
If any Gentleman would be pleased to favour me with a
plain and satisfactory Account of this Matter, it will greatly
oblige one desirous of Truth.

The printer of this paper will always take pleasure to
oblige either his readers or customers, by inserting any thing for
the benefit or amusement of the public: but he is apprehensive,
that the commencement of any disputes or queries in or about
religion, will not give that satisfaction to his readers which
they may justly expect, according to the intent and design of the
paper, as may be seen in No. 1. The subject of the above
query rather becomes a pamphlet than a gazette, which he is
willing to make public, if said disputes or queries should swell
ever so large, provided there be a good subscription.
