Full Text

Speaker Blaine asks an investigation into the Credit Mobilier Scandal, and Mr. Cox, (being in the Chair,) appointed on the Committee, Messrs. Poland, and McCrary, Republicans; Beck and Niblack, Democrats; and General Banks. This is a strong Committee, and it is said it will be likely to make "a full, thorough, and searching" inquiry, such as Mr. Blaine says he wishes to have. In the preamble to the resolutions of investigation, the name of Col. McComb appears. Our notion is that it is Oakes Ames who will get squeezed, if the thing is well probed.
