August 29. On Wednesday the 21st inst. his Excellency the Marquis de Vaudreuil, commander in chief of the squadron of his Most Christian Majesty, now in the harbour, with the officers of the fleet, of every rank, General Chaisne and his suite, and a great number of French and American gentlemen of distinction, partook of a public dinner at Faneuil Hall, at the invitation of his Excellency the Governor, and the Honourable the Council.

After dinner the United States of America, and their Representatives in Congress, the King, the Queen, and the Dauphin of France, perpetuity to the alliance between France and America, and a number of other toasts in the true spirit of the revolution, were given, and accompanied with the discharge of cannon.
