PORTSMOUTH.

Messieurs Fowles,

In travelling through the Province from Portsmouth to Walpole, along Connecticut River, to the College, I was informed they have fine Crops of Corn, Oats, Rye, and more especially WHEAT, on the new Settlements, so that it is likely, it will not exceed 2s per Bushel, Corn and Rye in proportion--.-There is Hay in plenty; and by the late Rains, a Prospect of the most extraordinary Feed for the Cattle that has been known for many Years--.-One Gentleman near the College, who has a plentiful Crop this Year of Grain, Offered to engage fifty Ton of new Flour at two Dollars per Hundred----So fertile is the Land in the new Towns, which is great Encouragement to press on to those lately granted.
