A Young Man Killed by his Sweetheart's Father.
BANGOR, Oct. 18.-A special from Houlton to the Daily Commercial says: Wm. Martin, aged about nineteen, son of James Martin, was murdered last night, about 11 o'clock, near the house of O'Donnell, a short distance from Putnam and White's Corner. The body was found about seven o'clock this morning. It had been dragged after the murderers down the bank of the Meduxnekeag and left on the flats. The boy was shot through the head, under which his cap had been folded and placed. There was blood on his clothes and from the flats to the street. The contents of his pockets were untouched. Mr. Michael Kelley, formerly of Bangor, a blacksmith of intemperate habits, has been arrested, with his daughter Mary, and committed to jail. The murdered boy was paying attentions to the daughter, to which Kelley objected. He yesterday made threats to kill him, and a pistol was found on him to-day. The daughter has since been discharged. An empty cartridge shell, fitting the pistol found on Kelley, was picked up near the scene of the tragedy. The daughter is probably innocent, and the father the murderer. There is intense excitement in Houlton, as this is the first murder ever committed there.
