Full Text
The Tribune refers to an advertisement which discloses the fact that the Western Transportation Company are so crowded with business at Detroit, that they solicit the patrons of the North Shore line of propellers to ship as much as possible by the Great Western Railway, to relieve the pressure upon their line for freight room.
The Tribune says this will serve to give some idea of the immense trade now centering at this point, and adds:
The North Shore line has carried from this port, since the 1st of August, a daily average of $100,000 in wool, pork, butter, lard, flour, wheat, corn, hides, leather, tobacco and hemp. Never in the memory of man have the Free States of the Northwest experienced such a season of prosperity as is this now upon us. Confidence on the part of the business community is all that has at any time been wanting for the past few months, and that confidence, generally one of the prime causes of prosperity, is now actually being forced upon the country by prosperity itself.
