GIVE CONCERTS TO RAISE FUNDS, KETCHIKAN TRIP
Musical Departments of Juneau Schools Seeking Support from Public

Plans for the annual Southeastern Alaska Music Festival to be staged at Ketchikan during the third week of April are being completed.

Requirements Announced
Students representing the participating schools—Ketchikan, Petersburg, Wrangell, Douglas, and Juneau—will be selected on the basis of musical ability, citizenship, interest, improvement made during the year, and the need for instruments and voices at the Festival to give balanced groups.

Means for Financing Trip
Each Juneau boy or girl who goes to the "First City" will pay approximately one-half of his fare. Revenue from the three local concerts, which will begin with a matinee on April 15 and continue with two evening concerts on April 16 and 17, a guarantee of $110 to be paid Juneau by Ketchikan, and the possibility of additional proceeds over and above the guarantees, which will be apportioned to the schools on the basis of delegation and distance traveled, will help to finance the Festival venture.

Discipline to be Rigid
Strict rules governing the conduct of the J.H.S. contingent during the trip have been made. In addition to the supervision of Miss Ruth Coffin and Byron L. Miller, two parents to accompany the group will be selected.

In order to eliminate the disciplinarian problems which arose during the Festival week held in Juneau last year the directors have agreed that the parents in the homes at Ketchikan will have full authority over their guests.

Any student failing to observe all rules and regulations concerning his behavior will be required to bear the entire expense of his trip.
