NEW-YORK, January 18.

Extract of a letter from Teneriffe, dated November 14, 1811.

Port Orotava is reduced to a most melancholy state, by the Yellow Fever the number of deaths already exceeds 500 of the 3000 who remained there.

In addition to the calamity we are likely to suffer also from civil commotions, a struggle for power having taken place between the Duke of Parque and General Laburn, who is appointed to supersede the former in command, which he will not give up.

Both governors have their adherents, and party spirit begins to run high: the respectable part of the community are in favour of Laburn, but the duke, who has the power in his hands, thinks to awe them into obedience, and has already begun despotically to banish and imprison all who oppose him.
