ROBBERY!

About two weeks ago some Spanish merchants who had purchased goods at Natchitoches to a considerable amount, and were on their way into the province of Texas, were attacked at the crossing of the Sabine by a party of robbers, composed chiefly of renegado Americans and Indians. The robbers succeeded in seizing the whole of the goods, but permitted the owners to proceed on their journey; while they, with their plunder, took the road to Natchitoches, and supposing themselves perfectly safe, did not travel rapidly. The Spanish merchants had not proceeded far before they met an escort coming from the province to protect them. With this force they immediately turned, and pursued the robbers, came up with them, attacked them, killed several, took seven or eight prisoners, and regained nearly the whole of their goods. A detailed account of the affair, we are informed has been sent to Governor Claiborne, who it is said is now with the army and navy on the Mobile, asserting the rights of the United States to the free navigation of that river.
