NATURAL CURIOSITY

We are informed by a gentleman from Sacket's Harbor, that a very remarkable cavern has lately been discovered near that place, on the shore of Lake Ontario. Our informant, in company with five others, descended about 30 feet, and proceeded more than half a mile through various departments, wonderfully wrought by nature, some of which were ten feet high, and others, barely sufficient to pass with difficulty. Through inattention, the torches with which they descended, went out, and the company remained in despair, momently expected to perish, for five hours, when a person left at the entrance, alarmed at their long absence, entered with a few neighbors, and rescued them from destruction. The air of the cavern was very impure and respiration very difficult.—Northern Whig.
