CITY'S BUDGET CUT $7,000 IN NEW ESTIMATE
Tax Rate Remains Same But Valuations Show Slight Increase Over Last Year.

A reduction of $7,037.62 in the city budget for the fiscal year of 1935-36 is shown over this year's budget according to the figures for city expenditures passed by the city commissioners Wednesday night. The 1934-35 budget was set at $53,832.85 with a $2.50 tax rate while the figures for 1935-36 total only $46,795.23.

The assessed valuation for next year is $4,069,150 and the total tax levy $101,728.75 as follows: interest and sinking fund ($1.25) $50,864.37; General fund ($1.15) $46,795.23; Chamber of Commerce ($.10) $4,069.15.

The assessed valuation is $25,000 more this year, according to Carl Fitz, city secretary, due to new industries, etc., in the city.

"There has been no increase in real estate valuations," he said, as the figure is the same as in 1933.

The assessed valuations for the past six years are as follows: 1933, $4,045,211; 1932, $4,898,686; 1931, $7,572,498; 1930, $7,538,466; 1929, $7,455,502; 1928, $6,931,700.
