The editor is indebted to a friend for the following account of the interesting trial in the county court now in session in this city.
"Yesterday morning, before the judges of Baltimore county court, commenced the trial of Obed Griffith, a youth of about sixteen years of age, who was indicted for the murder of William Warrick, in Baltimore county, in November last. The court and jury were laboriously engaged in the examination of the evidence until 3 o'clock P. M. when the case was opened on the part of the state by the district attorney. H. M. Murray, esq. He was followed by Charles Walsh, Reverdy Johnson, John S. Tyson, and E. L. Finley, esqs. counsel for the prisoner; and the argument was closed by the district attorney at half past 12 o'clock this morning. The arguments of counsel occupied 9 hours. The jury retired to their room, at twenty minutes before 1 o'clock, and brought into court this morning, a sealed verdict of "guilty of murder in the 2d degree." The court sentenced the prisoner to confinement in the penitentiary for six years, six months of which to be solitary confinement."
