The Reverend Jeremiah Chamberlin, the venerable President of Oakland College, Miss., was killed on the 5th ult., by one George A. Briscoe. The account states that Briscoe rode up to the gate of the College, and called for Mr. C., who came out, when Briscoe commenced abusing him, and ultimately got down from his horse and stabbed him in the breast, the knife reaching the heart. The murderer was pursued, and was found the next morning on the public road, having cut his own throat from ear to ear.

The difficulty, it is said, grew out of the political excitement existing in that State.
