There is manifestly a determination on the part of certain business men in New York and New Orleans, and on the part of a few unprincipled politicians, to get up another piratical crusade against Cuba, similar to the one last year, in which Lopez and his duped followers figured. All at once, and as if by concert, these men are beginning to give out the word, as they did before, that the people of Cuba are ripe for rebellion, and complaints long and loud are poured out to the public, and thrust under the notice of the Administration, against the authorities of Cuba, of a nature calculated to excite the prejudices of our people and enlist their sympathies against that badly governed Island.
The Order of the "Lone Star"—a SECRET Society, gotten up in iniquity—has been organised expressly to bring about a collision between the United States and Cuba. Thousands of talented, wealthy and influential men are members of this hellish organisation—demagogues in politics, and swindling capitalists. The owners of the California Steamers are deep in the matter, as we learn from the New York Herald, and this accounts for their difficulties with the Cuban authorities. They are factious and contemptuous towards the Cubans, and retaliation of the same devilish spirit is construed into indignity offered the American flag. One-sided representations are furnished the Press, and inducements offered in money and other favors, and they spin out columns of invective against the Administration because it does not see proper to play into the hand of these vile men, and thereby enable them to make millions of money at the sacrifice of the peace of the country and man's valuable lives. We fully sustain the Administration in its policy in regard to these difficulties from the beginning, and hope that it will not consent to be drawn into the wiles of these shrewd men, who take into their calculations the means only by which they may make money.

Businessmen and politicians in New York and New Orleans plan another invasion of Cuba like Lopez's previous failed expedition, using the secret Order of the Lone Star to provoke conflict; the article condemns this scheme and supports the Administration's refusal to engage.
