A Rebel Trophy.—A gun taken from one of the rebel pickets, who dropped his piece, cartridge-box and all, and fled "in all directions" at the sudden appearance of a scouting party of Vermonters near Newport News, has been sent to St. Albans, by Adjutant Stevens, to be placed in the armory of the Ransom Guards, as the first trophy taken from the enemy by the Vermonters of the First Regiment. The gun is described as a light fowling piece, of ancient construction, with rough wooden ramrod, and confirms the statements as to the deficiency of muskets in the Virginia armies.
