Suicide--
Last Monday, Mr. Orren W. Porier, residing three miles from this place, near Clarke's Ferry, committed suicide by hanging. He had been deranged at times, on the subject of religion, for about twelve months, but was considered entirely harmless, until last Saturday, when, on account of his maddened freaks, it was deemed prudent for his family to leave home, which they accordingly did. The following Monday evening, about sundown, a little boy on approaching the house, discovered him hanging. The alarm was given, and a crowd was soon collected, but he was already dead. It would seem that after mounting the bed, he tied the rope around his neck, then fastened it to the joist over head, and jumped off. Mr. P. was about fifty years of age, and leaves a wife and five children.
