DEFIES POLICE CHIEF.
Old Lighthouse Keeper Says He Can't Be Arrested.
Kenosha, Wis., April 21.-Claiming immunity from arrest on account of the fact that he was a government official, Capt. L. N. Dedeimar, an old one-armed soldier and keeper of the Kenosha lighthouse, defied the members of the Kenosha police force to arrest him on a warrant which had been issued by a justice of the peace here. Dedeimar at the time was in charge of the big foghorn at the entrance of Kenosha harbor and he declared that the chief of police had no right to arrest him. The officers did not attempt to lay violent hands on him, but reported the inability to arrest him to the justice issuing the warrant, and the justice has threatened to have the matter referred to the United States officers at Milwaukee. Dedeimar, it is alleged, assaulted two boys, Vincens Loeffler and Carl Erlich, while they were fishing on the pier. One of the boys, the smaller, was badly injured. The assault and the warrant for Dedeimar has caused a sensation here as Dedeimar is well known. He is a brother-in-law of Col. E. G. Timme, formerly secretary of state and now fifth auditor in the United States treasury.
