Full Text

A Reckless Undertaking.

During the high wind yesterday afternoon a small boat, containing a man and two women, put out from a dock in the upper part of the city with the evident intention of crossing to the Cape Elizabeth shore. Shortly after leaving the end of the wharf the man lost his hold upon one of the oars and the craft was in imminent danger of being swamped. With the remaining oar, however, the boatman managed to keep his frail craft head to the sea and their perilous position being observed from a schooner a boat put out to their relief and the foolhardy boatman and his unthinking companions were safely towed back into the shelter of the dock.
